Well you just gave me an idea....I don't want to drill holes in a no leak teak deck..(a rare thing in the PNW) but I could wire up a plug below and an exterior plug at the windlass and put a heavy extension chord out the forward hatch. ..voila! Don't need electric rode recovery all the time just sometimes.

Yes, but many (most?) of them are pretty useless. I know that for our Maxwell vwc1500 it would be easier to use a long line to a cockpit winch than to use the built in "backup".
