Dinghy Anchoring Systems

Let's hear your interesting ideas for dinghy anchoring. I don't care what anchor or rode you have but how you deploy them. We added a stern cleat to our alu AB dink for stern anchoring. We use a bowline in a bight on the painter to attach the rode when anchoring from the bow so as not to have to reach down to attach it to the bow padeye. I saw a guy with a 12" piece of 6" dia PVC pipe secured up and down on the transom to stick his folding grapnel into - keeps it handy and tidy.

I saw that. Too much discussion about a 75lb anchor in a jon boat.

Re: Dinghy Anchoring Systems

A problem that frustrates me is that the simplist little dinghy anchor - the 2 1/2 pound Dansforth or its imitators, does not store very well. I've figured out a way to wrap 50' or so of 3/8" nylon rode on one, and that helps, but they are still rather clumsy under foot and don't fit in lockers very well. Hanging one in a notched bucket by the side bars might work, but I'd like to hear other people's ingenious ideas.
