Bruce or CQR
About an hour ago, we witnessed a 30 something formula slide past us at anchor. Several freon blasts later, I woke them up. 18kts here, and 6 other boats had no trouble holding in this sandy bottom anchorage. I was looking at their anchor, with all chain. Bruce/claw looking like.
They were very lucky, they slid a quarter mile or more.

But most boats at most marinas are not used.
Most of the boats that are used at my marina are racers.
Not many cruisers and when I do my weekend cruises once I cross the first shipping channel 5 miles off I don't see many boats even though there are thousands in the marinas nearby.
Sometimes I see 5-10 from a distance but not a lot
There are 4 more marinas similar to this one within one mile on the creek plus the Navy ships (Amphibs) and Navy Seals Fast boats plus Navy small patrol boats
Sometimes these guys (Navy Seals) come buy you in the creek at speed other times it's the escort patrol boats for the carriers or subs
Patrol boats second video. They escort the carriers and subs out and keep every boater at a distance with lights and radio calls sometime getting quite aggressive
The small boats are out of our creek (Little Creek) also

I had to watch a lot of video, but the navy boats use Fortress Anchors. Maybe you could pick up one of them at the midnite supply store. While you're at it, get one of their radars too.

Nice that he had all that space to drag.
Here most places you anchor you have 50-100 yards before you are on the beach or in the mud with a depth of 1'-2'

Right.
In my business, the last thing you would ever do is take or buy navy equipment at a low price that shouldn't have been for sale.

That’s funny as WM’s main profit is on their WM branded items, which didn’t test well

But they are still the main sales point for boater's needs and will sell tons of their anchors that do not test well since they pretty much have a monopoly going.

I do trust West Marine's testing process. I am not so cynical that I believe they would rig the test results to benefit their products, besides, they sell the lot anyhow.
But I think there are more variables at play. I don't know why Bruce anchors (or Lewmar's claw) don't test well, but I have had excellent luck with the ones we use and I trust them.
Since 1997 when we finally gave up on our CQR imitation and bought a Bruce (44lb) it has set reliably and I can probably count on one hand the number of times in the last 35 years (and 35 countries) when it dragged after being set.
Nor is it hard to set.
So I disregard the test results and go with my own experience.
