Just dropped the Mantus with a 3:1 scope and set it. A beautiful thing. Being responsible I did let out enough rode for a 4:1 scope.

In my real world the Delta vastly outperformed the CQR, but then again maybe those are alternate facts?[emoji848]

Luckily, there are some “hopefully” abandoned telecom conduits closely that maybe will snag.

After you have experienced one of these new style Cat 4 plus hurricanes as I have you'll know then.
I'll probably come down there again though during the season since I don't have that much tied up in my boat but it's quite the experience.
we had 6-8 hurricanes for practice in Pensacola then Ivan came through in 2004 and then we knew.
Btw, Katrina followed the next year and at our dock in Pensacola the water was as high as a normal Cat 1 even though Katrina was hanging out 180 miles south and gaining strength
BTw my brother in law spent lots of time at Man-O-War Cay but he was at a marina on his 44' power yacht
His training was to take his 16' 3" Montauk Boston Whaler out to Norfolk Canyon multiple times for marlin and one time to Bimini.
He was from Tangier Island.....

I enjoy the workout of a 10-15:1 scope.
It's bad enough for your body to just be hanging out on a boat all day with minimal exercise but then to not have much anchor rode/chain to pull up is even worse.
It's even better if you have to relocate a few times during the night. More exercise

I guess it depends on who is handling the CQR.
So far the only boat that almost hit me from dragging was a $250,000 Catamaran with a new gen anchor a Kiptopeke.
Luckily there was a squall coming through which woke me up and I was able to call him on the radio.....
I didn't want him scratching up the boat I purchased for $2,000.

We’re anchored in a marsh lined creek and with a 10-15:1 scope we would be in the marsh. Of course with the CQR as our anchor we would probably have ended up in the marsh anyways.

I keep hearing about the CQR being a great anchor if you know how to handle or know the correct procedure to set it. Don’t have to worry about that with the new gen anchors

I used to swordfish at nite in my Montauk.
I landed one that weighed 1/2 of the weight of the hull. FrLauderdale. Got some real looks on I95 with that one wrapped around the center console. Yep. Took it to Bimini as well. Good times.

Yes some of the new anchors do preform quite well so does my CQR only difference is the top preforming next gen anchors makeup for lack of skill when anchoring.

So that means they’re a better setting anchor. Thanks for clarifying that.

What anchor and what size are you using ? Also chain and rode? Also bridle or no?

45 lb Mantus, 80’ 1/4” HT and 300’ 5/8” rode. On a catamaran so sure, a bridle. Does this mean your not worried about my liability insurance anymore?
You did post this moments ago then delete it? Correct?

Mantus ( m2?) so no I'm not . Just curious what bridle hook do you use ?
( has nothing to do with this thread)
I make them out of 3/8 " 316SS. Plate.
