No the boat is usually in the same spot where I first let go the CQR but maybe in a different direction due to tide change when I wake in the am and at various times at night.
Point is the radius is the pretty much the same the entire time even if it's been a few days with tide change every 6 hours or so plus with a strong current.

Something in 3 years that I’ve rarely witnessed. Have you ever dove on your anchor?

No don't need to dive as I can usually see the anchor on / in the bottom as I tend to anchor in less than 15 ft of water whenever possible . With the fact of only drawing 4 feet of water .
I can get in rather close to shore .

If you have to dive on your anchor, you need a new anchor since it appears you do not trust it.
Get yourself a good CQR and drift set or let the boat speed at drop set it for you then maybe you won't have to spend so much time checking you anchor set.

I dive on my anchor because I enjoy swimming in clear water. Diving on your anchor also gives peace of mind for a good nights sleep and in my opinion good seamanship. Having dove on numerous anchors that I’ve owned it probably gives me more experience with the way different anchors set and don’t. Having lived with a CQR for over 3 years and spent 100’s of night’s anchored on one, I can tell you the CQR is my most detested piece of boating equipment. But more power to you if it’s working out.

This is good seamanship for those of us with experience.
Anchor check after drop then relax.

Re: Bruce or CQR
Windy anchorage.....had a good sleep that night though.
No dive needed since I knew the anchor was set by the way the boat acted

Experience? Looks like your boats sitting 90 degrees of the wind in maybe 10 kts of wind?
We obviously have a different definition of experience.

More like 5 knots.
Anchor was just dropped which is why I'm still on the foredeck.
It was a very nice spot that I use often when I have a nice easterly wind ......
The tide though will swing the boat all night but with the easterly wind no big deal.........
if I want total comfort with wavelets I'll pick another spot.

Like I said, glad you like your CQR and it’s working for you.
We just dropped the hook here.
Blowing 10-15 against tide but thankfully we sit with the wind and not the tide. Heading farther south tomorrow, winter is coming.

I went to that same anchorage on this day but the wind swung around and I ended up with 2-3' waves coming in all night with 15 knot winds but still didn't dive on the anchor after I dropped it but did go immediately to bed once I knew it was set.
Winds swung around about 120-140 degrees from what is shown in the video 10 hours earlier and cranked up.
