Best iPad/iPhone Anchor Alarm?

What iPad/iPhone anchor ap do you LOVE?

BTW I have searched other threads and either they are non specific or are side tracked.

I am really looking for a good iPad anchor alarm not some lesson in how to tie a big of string to the anchor and around the door handle.

So please tell me what iPad anchor system you find excellent.

Mark

Re: Best iPad/iPhone Anchor Alarm?

I use drag queen on my iPhone, I never go to sleep when on anchor or mooring ball without setting it up down below in my cabin.

May the good winds always be with you

Re: Best iPad/iPhone Anchor Alarm?

Never thought of that for an idea. Use the iPhone and iPad. I will down load now.

Cheers for the idea and the suggestionhttp://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif

Re: Best iPad/iPhone Anchor Alarm?

Monte, if you don't need the OB immediately, and are heading through the Bahamas anyway, you can get the non-Enduro 2-stroke there for a bit less. The non-Enduro version is a superior motor and 10lbs lighter.

Re: Best iPad/iPhone Anchor Alarm?

I have Anchor Watch and Drag Queen on my phone.

Normally I use Anchor Watch and it has woken/panicked me successfully, but never because of drifting, just because of a wind shift.

Drag Queen is telling me I am 8156289 feet from my last anchor position now

Mark, get Drag Queen, but for the best results with it, you need to dress appropriately and post photos

A bit puzzled.. Sailboat worth 6 figures , Alarm system 5 bucks

I like to rely on proven technology that is based on knowledgeable engineers, who understand the concept of sailing. My 2 cents

Re: Best iPad/iPhone Anchor Alarm?

I really like my little Garmin GPS Map 76. Turn on tracking and set the alarm and you have a rapid visual representation of where you are. As long as you are "in the mustach" created bythe track as you swing at anchor, you are fine.
I also set the alarm after I have anchored because I want to be awakened when the tide or wind reverse. I will spend 10 minutes to make sure the anchor has reset, then back to bed

Ya me 2. I tell the wife we could drift on the rocks. I always sleep sound. Mind you she often looks bit ragged in the morning.

Maybe thats psychology more than technology?

Can't say for iOS gizmos but for those on Android I can recommend Sailsafe for an anchor alarm. I use the free version at present and it works great, well as long as your device can pick up the GPS signal properly. I actually use a Bluetooth GPS connected to my phone to help avoid false alarms as it is more accurate but you do need to have BluetoothGPS app as well to do this.

Never got DragQueen to work on Android but that might just have been me.

I also recommend setting the depth alarm and wind alarm on your instruments and turning the backlight down as low as it will go. With good batteries it will not create any problems and will wake you up if the wind picks up excessively or you swing round into a shallower zone, something a GPS alarm won't necessarily do.
