One shackle, well secured. Gave up on swivels when I lost one.

Re: Anchor to Chain Connector Poll

On my main anchor, two shackles with a large chain link between, so that the pins on both shackles point the same way. All HT Crosby. This hugely reduces hangups on the roller. On my Fortress kedge anchors just one shackle.

One gal shackle + SS siezing wire. No idea what brand it is. Don't forget to open up all your gal anchor shackles once a year and recoat the pin threads with waterproof grease.

Re: Anchor to Chain Connector Poll

I use teflon tape on the threads instead of grease.

Re: Anchor to Chain Connector Poll

Ive tryed many swivels over the years ! none held up and almost cost me an anchor a couple of times! so one or two shackels with stainless wire whipping! never fails and easy to tell if they need replacement ! just my 2 cents

Re: Anchor to Chain Connector Poll

One HT Crosby shackle with pin through chain side, so the round side of the "D" shackle can swing in a side-pull allowing the chain pull to remain perpendicular to the shackle pin.

pirate Re: Anchor to Chain Connector Poll

1 shackle on this boat tho' on others I've had to use 2 due to the larger anchors... the 1st fits the stock perfectly.. the second fits the chain...
Standard galvanised... don't like mixing...

I don't have a picture. It goes: anchor -> large shackle (to fit oversize anchor) -> 5/16" shackle - > Kong swivel -> chain

I probably wouldn't have used the 2 shackles if WM had the large Kong at the time, which case I would have only used 1 shackle.

I also lockwire the shackle pins.

When I find the right size bolt I'm going to replace the Kong bolt with a longer one that goes all the way though it so I can put a locknut on the other side.
