I am not sure how the poster assumed a Prusik Knot. I did tree service for a few years and use the prusik climing loop to ascend my lines into a tree. The loop is wrapped twice through itself. If it is proper geometry of line sizes, the prusik knot will not slid on the the main line, it will only cinch tighter as it is pulled. The loose end of the loop is typically belayed through a caribener on your harness or it is used as a sliding climbing loop. (Put your foot through the loop and stand up - move another loose loop up and repeat.)

Sorry the photos are out of order. Loop & main line, Loop through itself once, Loop through itself twice. If the line dimeters are appropriate, the doubled prusik knot will cinch totally on the main line and will never slip. I like the prusik line to be soft and very pliable. You can use several loops to make a climbing ladder. You can stand up in a free loop on a main line, slide your prusik on your harness up; sit ddown and move your loose knot up - repeat. Use this technique to climb a line.

You can use a prusik loop to add an attachment to a line at any point along the line. It will work equally well on a chain.

Can you tell me what Other Anchor Chain Hook you are using?
I guess I’m the only one who is using a 6mm SK99 soft shackle to attach my cat 18mm 3-strand nylon bridle to 10mm chain rode.
Anyway, works great, easy on & easy off every time, and won’t fall off. Shackle strength well over 22,000lbs, more than the tensile strength of the bridle.
One pic of application example and other pic of the soft shackle I make.

I think you'll find that you are far from "the only one"

The last post before yours was almost 9 years ago.

How long have UHMWPE soft shackles been is common use for any purpose?

I'd suspect that a large number of the responders to the original poll have since switched to soft shackles.

Re: Anchor Chain Hook Poll

Hi,

i stopped using seadog chain gripperl because the bolt was twisted and i actually got to work on twisting the bolt open. i switched to using Eye Grab Hook and hundreds of anchors successfully.

i still have a third spare one Wichard Chain Grip Hook, i used a few times but i like a more simple Eye Grab hook.

Where can I find a SK99 soft shackle? or did you make those yourself? The strongest ones I can find are these at west marine that are made of SK78 and have a breaking strength of 15400 with 14mm dyneema. Are you sure about your 22000lb number? From what I found, SK99 is supposed to be 20% stronger than SK78, and I'm struggling to see how a 6mm soft shackle achieves that. Thanks!

It's theoretically possible. 6mm SK99 can have a rated BS of around 6000Kg (13,640lb) and some soft shackles test out at over 200% of line strength

I make my own and use this design of soft shackle which has bench tested to be 230% stronger than the single line breaking strength it is made from.
Interesting read:
https://l-36.com/high_strength_soft_shackle.php

I get the Marlow Ropes D12 Max 99 (SK99) from a local rigger. Marlow specs give a minimum breaking strength of 5010kgs (11,000lbs). I figure my shackle will hold at least 200% of the minimum.
