Advice on Lofrans windlass upgrade

My Tashiba-31 has a Lofrans Cayman 88 windlass installed. There is a power switch located in the cabin and a single Up switch located next to the windlass on the bow. There isn't a control box.

I want to upgrade this to have an Up/Down switch at the helm - so I'll be adding a new switch and a control box. I've gone through the manuals but I can't find any information on the best location for the control box and the wire size for the switch side of things. I'm thinking the control box goes into or near the chain locker to be as close as possible to the windless. Any advice?

I have a Lofrans Tigress and wired it with a switch in the cockpit. It’s pretty easy, other than running wires which is always a chore on a boat.

Here's a very basic wire diagram. Not shown in the diagram is the suitable sized breaker switch to the windlass.
