ABI WINDLASS Springs

I just picked up a two speed ABI windless. It's not working properly. I believe it's related to the springs which have failed. They do not match. Does anybody know the correct specifications or which of the two might be the correct one?

Re: ABI WINDLASS Springs

Just got some springs and the plastic bits from SL Spares in the UK. Price was ridiculous.
Tip to tip measures 3-9/16", spring body is 1-5/8" long and 3/16" diameter. Ends seem symmetric. Wire diameter is 1/32" approx. Opening pressure of spring is a bit over a pound, maybe 18 to 20 oz, hard to measure in the kitchen...

Re: ABI WINDLASS Springs

I don't have an answer about the springs but did have the same exact problem with a ABI numerous times. There were two springs that put tension on a cog. Luckily for me the company was still in business but with the issue happening in Tahiti and then again in Fiji it did cause some logistics issues

Thinking you may find something close from McMasters and Carr? I did use a set of springs purchased from a company in NZ.

while you have the unit apart might as well change out the o rings. They seem to degrade in the Sunn.

Best of luck

Re: ABI WINDLASS Springs

Sorry on crappy wifi. Yes after looking at the photos (5 minutes to load) it's the same identical unit I had. Any type of spring would work even metal as its in an oil bath they would be coated.
