It's good to see that a product that should be near the top of anyone's consideration may now be built as designed and expected.

I suspect that the new owners are sincere, and it appears they have the track record on their other marine products to follow through.

I wonder where the pricing will be?

Manson has the advantage there, and unless the new Rocna team becomes competitive, Manson may still be the choice for many.

The key is not whether it's made in China, but how well the manufacture is specified and inspected. If you go to Taiwan with a sample and say "how much to make one like this?" they will make one that looks like that. If you go to Taiwan and say "How much to make one of these, It must be forged 4130 steel and have no porosity greater than xx etc etc", they will make it like that. You must specify everything and you must make sure they understand....

Lets hope the new Rocna understands that if they're going to charge a premium price, they're going to have to start delivering a premium product. This is not just about materials--it's also about such thing as welds and galvanizing. Even going back to the made-in-Canada days there were significant problems with this, problems that Rocna customer service was not attuned to deal with.

Personally, I believe the gusto previously associated with the Rocna brand is seriously tempered. Lets see if the new owner who has a fine reputation can achieve his expected product sales at the previously high retail prices this anchor commanded.

I read there is little difference between Manson Supreme's performance and Roca's. Regardless of the new owner's good reputation, Rocna's name was needlessly soiled by greed, now I expect them to face stiff competition.

And not to beat a dead horse...

**BUT**

Martyr Zinc Anodes have had an appreciable drop in quality since Canadian Metals moved their manufacturing off-shore to China.

So as good as their 'good name' is, there are still some issues to be worked out. Meanwhile, all of the divers I know have started moving to Sea Shield brand anodes that fit better, and last longer.

It will be interesting to see if there is an easy way to tell the difference between the Canmet anchors and Holdfast ones. I would think that it will take some time to move through all of the inventory that is already out there. Anyone know?
