Wind vane for boats w/drop down swimming platform

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has experience with or can recommend a wind vane solution that demonstrably works well with a very broad drop down swimming platform, in my case for a Dufour 2020 412 GL.

I have looked at different manufacturers example off-center installations, but I am not totally convinced, it would be way too much off center, I guess.

Any kind of removable installation would also be a plus.

Or am I just out of luck?

Thanks, and best regards,
-Stein

The Aries model 5 might work, there can be many mounting options. The steering unit does come off pretty easy too.

Pacific Plus works with a swim platform and is a great vane.

Pacific Plus Windpilot will not work on a drop down stern as on this boat, swing gate also would not work.
An easily removable unit like a Windpilot Pacific model would work as well as any similar designed one.
Removing the unit just leaves the base behind.

Give the guys at Hydrovane a call, they may have the solution. Their product is designed to be mounted off center- I have one on my boat- off center.

My swim step was designed to allow the Monitor paddle to overhand the step. In your application, I see needing strong mounting points both above and below the swim platform. Below, no problem...that is a structural member. Above your step, the lazarette hatch-looking areas would require welded attachment points. Hard to tell from photo if you have a strong point to secure the upper mounts for a wind vane system.
