I bet there is a big weight difference between those two, does make a difference to you lifting and fitting the outboard?

The Suzuki is 33kgs and the Honda is 47kgs
I will rig a geared crane/lift.

No mixing, less noise and better fuel consumption for the Honda. Also less emissions. More expensive.
Lighter weight and more straight forward maintenance for the Suzuki. Less expensive.

I’m not really too worried about the weight difference.

I think marinized reliability should be the first priority over weight
The Enduro has been improved upon over the years in commercial marine use to still be the 15hp of choice
Not the lightest at 57kg dry weight, I have generally had them for over 15 years light use and changed mostly for cosmetics.

I have a Highfield CL340 and went for the Mercury 20hp EFI. It is the same weight as the 15hp and it is like a dream after 18 years of two strokes (incl. Yamaha Enduro). That new tiller that attaches to the front center of the motor is perfect.

We lift the dinghy with a swinging arm up to the arch on the stern. The outboard stays on at all times.

Less pollution.

Change the oil once a year.

Easy to maintain just like your old lawnmower.

The 4 stroke is the responsible choice and before this thread I was definitely thinking this was the way to go.

Understood, but how much petrol are you going to actually use in this new engine each year? now compare that to the average US car or that 747 that's flying overhead.

I think we should all do our bit and the wifey and I certainly try having just downgraded to a little fuel injected Peugeot, but there is an impact. We use a little Honda 2.3 and about 10 litres a year, great little engine, but appreciate you have different needs and distances to travel.
