Re: Which Outboard For Tender

Yes. I prefer a 15HP for the CL340. The 2 stroke Suzuki 15 is 33kgs but if given a choice I don’t mind a little extra weight to go to the 4 stroke, especially with EFI.

What is the mission?

If it’s slowly going around, or just being a easy to drive thing for new boaters, the 4 stroke.

If you want something to rip around and performance and weight are a larger factor, 2 stroke.

Re: Which Outboard For Tender

Performance is relative. All of those 15s will push that dinghy loaded pretty well. The 2 strokes are lighter and cheaper but not sold in many places these days. At some point in the not too distant future they will not be available at all new. The 4 strokes have better fuel economy, less emissions and are generally a more modern, efficient smoother running engine, also quieter. No mixing or gummed up carburettor.
As said, I lean towards the 4 strokes with EFI.
Those who are used to the 2 strokes will stay with them as long as possible.

Tohatsu 15 EFI manual start for 2 years now on highfield. Has been great. I didn’t realize enduro was so heavy and mine is in 90 lb range I think which is less.
Much quieter which is awesome and also I don’t get outboard smoke/exhaust smell all over me after a trip. And at low speeds very smooth comparably.

We lift the dinghy with a swinging arm up to the arch on the stern. The outboard stays on at all times.
Can that setup plane with four adults onboard? Am considering same setup.
