What Pitch Prop

I have an older AB lite 9 plus RIB with a 2005 Johnson 9.9hp 2 stroke. It has a 9 1/4"dia x 8" pitch prop in worn out condition. What would you recommend for the pitch? Rib weighs about 100 lbs, motor 75 lbs, me about 200 lbs, gf lite at 120. At this time the boat plans well with the 2 of us and probably goes about 15mph. Is this close to what others are getting? Again what pitch would yo recommend?

Without knowing the rpm at full throttle it would be hard to guess a pitch change.

Unfortunately the Johnson does not have a tach. I would guess by sound it is in the 5000rpm range. From one motor head to another.

I know that, no tach that is. So we are both motorheads? I'll tell you about mine if you tell me about yours.

As to your prop, you can use a handheld tach pointed at your flywheel, otherwise how quick is it out of the hole? If it cranks right up to plane, and doesn't sound like it is screaming at 6000+ rpm, you probably have the correct pitch now.

DO, last rod was a 41 Chevy 2dr sedan with Mustang 2 front end, 9" ford RE with 3.25 gears sitting on S-10 rear springs with urethane bushings. I did a frame off. Disc ft and rear with power brakes. Dechromed and painted a dark Lexus green metallic with dove grey interior. Veed the front windshield and all the normal rodding stuff. Sold it and went back to building a RV-8 kit plane, sold it after motorcycle accident and am now the owner of not one but two sailboats......talk about a death wish. Still trying to get one ready to the Gulf this fall....... Love your Track T, that was my next street rod using a Ford t-Bird 2.4 4cyclinder with the factory turbo and a 5 speed. Light and easy to handle...
