Re: Water tender 9.4?
what about a peddle boat, anyone ever use one for a tender?
i am seeking different options to lower the chance of theft in the Caribbean.
i do have a 3.5HP engine i will mount on whatever i get, but i want high weight cap >600# low price, and no blow up tubes.

Re: Water tender 9.4?
A 9.4 came with my CSY 37. Other than being plastic and not liking a lot of heat( it would change shape slightly if I tried to hang it on the davits) it was ok. I could get it on plane with a 5hp Tahotsu with me it just barely. For just going to the docks it was usable. I now have a 10 Rib and a 9.9 hp Johnson that planes very well with 2.

Re: Water tender 9.4?
i didn't consider the heat factor, thou i would store it on the foredeck.

Re: Water tender 9.4?
We bought one via Amazon.com and LOVE it. Amazon delivered it on a pallet to out house... no problem!
My husband can stand on the front seat, and it remains stable. We routinely fit the two of us, our 11-y-o son, and two Chesapeake Bay Retrievers in it. AND it still moves, with a 5 HP Lehr.
We like the stability, the room, and it's lighter than the inflatables we were looking at.
It is totally worth it, in our opinion.

Hope this helps!

Re: Water tender 9.4?
Unless you both are large, 400 lbs will be enough, not to be rude. Your motor and fuel will be about 65 to 70 lbs. so you should be able to carry 330 lbs of passengers and gear. You can always row and get a 70lb increase in carrying ability. On mine it carried 2 220lb guys and a six gallon fuel tank and a 5hp 4 stroke and still handled well. Of course it would not plane, but did move well.

Re: Water tender 9.4?
We easily put 550 pounds in/on it with no issues.
I think the actual USCG rating plate in the boat says 480, but I'll have to check it to be sure.

Re: Water tender 9.4?
Scoobert,
You probably need a 10 ft inflatable then. There is no hard dinghy on the market (in the 10 ft range) that will hold 700 pounds.

Re: Water tender 9.4?
Your right. Another reason to get one.
I react badly when something of mine is stolen.
And a proper dingy is $2600
