Warrenjet 30 outboard

Hi all! I've just aquired one of these engines - never seen the like!! A water jet outboard. Has anyone had any experiance with these, I would be most interested? Mine seems ok, but does not have a spark, so must be either ht lead or coil (I've checked the plug!). I need a puller to get at these, so can't progress at mo, but will be trying to get it going soon. Can't wait to see how it performs.

How do these do when you get sand or weed in the intake?? That big opening at the bottom looks like it would suck in a lot of small fish!!!

I can see that being a problem on a dinghy that might need to be run up onto a beach pretty regularly, what with the bottom intake like that.

No spark? You will probably find the potting compound on the coil full of cracks, a common problem on these antiques. Was there a garage sale at the Smithsonian?
