yes, to test the engine in a bucket, you have to make sure the lower end is all the way submerges otherwise the impellor will not see water....keep the hose running....if you put the engine in gear, as it will splash all the water out...

You have a buildup of corrosion in the heat exchanger
Remove the cover plate ... engine block starboard side and clean out
Take ten minutes
Good to do this every time you replace the impeller

Purchase several cover plate gaskets and a fastener kit as spare parts

Those are special alloy fasteners

Different engine? No such thing to stbd on mine. There is the intake valve cover to port and the cylinder head cover aft.

I ran it on dinghy and cools fine.

it's a sweet running engine...my fav.....if you are going to mount it on the stern rail, and don't use it for a period, give the engine start pull rope a few pulls once in a while, leave the little red clip out so it won't actually start...this will help keep the impellor from sticking and also re-position the impellor so the blades won't take a set.
