I read a lot of negative reviews
of the Torqeedo motors before throwing caution to the winds and buying
one anyway. I usually pay for such foolishness, but so far the Travel 1003L has worked very well. I should add that I use it very little, just for driving my Portland Pudgy
to the shore and back to the boat
Overall, it seems flimsy and not that well thought out, especially considering the two grand price
, but I can't find anything else that allows me to forgo carrying petrol or multiple propane
cannisters for my Lehr 2.5HP, which is for sale
, by the way.
I wish another manufacturer would come up with a competitor to Torqeedo; anyone who deliberately uses the letter "q" not followed by a "u" has to be a bit doggy. A really good idea would be to design the motor
to use powerful and readily available professional camera batteries
such as those from Anton Bauer.
