To Torqeedo or not to Torqeedo?

Just purchased my first cruising boat...I am looking at as zodia 9c aluminum bottom rib...will the Torqeedo 1103s power it sufficiently? Their specs say it’s the equivalent of a 3hp with equivalent thrust of a 4hp...I used a lesser powered one on my Melges 24 and it works well but I know nothing about dinghys...thoughts?

Maybe yes......but for a (very?) limited time. I would always take a second battery when going ashore. But maybe that is me, I mostly take a spare tank of fuel for my outboard.

I think you’ll find the elec motors seem like a good idea, but in practice fall short. Managing the battery charging is a pain and they just aren’t built as sturdy as a gas motor.

Prior to cruising full time we thought we wanted one. Knowing what I do now, I’d never consider it. Our dingy is our daily car, work horse, and pleasure cruiser. We need it to be up to all we throw at it. Lower hp motors can be dangerous when you find yourself in currents or anything but flat water.
