Serial Number on Avon Redcrest?

The State of North Carolina (USA) requires a HIN or Serial number in order to process a registration sticker. The sticker is required if I'm going to use my outboard.

Does anyone know if there is some obscure location for the hull number on a Redcrest?

Mine is on a small metal tag that is on the (stbd?) side aft...

It has a glued on 'patch' with a slot cut in it so the numbers show.
