Securing Dinghy in Davits

After a rough hundred mile trip, i discovered that my Caribe dinghy had chafed enough to cause an air leak. I pulled the dinghy up tight to the davits using a wbbed strap with stainless buckles. The webbing abraded through the Hypolon. There is also indications that it is also chafing against the davit tubes.
The davits are by Garhauer, very similiar to St. Croix and Kato.

How do others secure their inflatables to minimize movement?

I use four ratchet straps. 2 to hold the dink in and up a bit (stops vertical movement) and 2 diagonally (stops lateral movement). The important thing is that there should be absolutely no movement of the dink. None at all. If it gets cold at night or rains and the dink softens a bit, ratchet the straps a bit tighter. If there are any chafe points e.g against the tubes, put a piece of closed cell foam there. Those blue camping ground sheets or yoga mats from Walmart come in handy. Yours must have been very loose for it to chafe through.
