Far too much Oyster residue for even muriatic acid to work in that case.

Has anyone tried MaryKate On and Off Gel for the same problem?

It's what I use for ICW stains on the boat. It's some mix of acids (anyone know which ones?) but my impression is that it's safer than muriatic acid which I find really scary due to the toxicity of the fumes.

I've also used Roll-Off cleaner on the Hypalon tubes in the past. I wish it came in a gel. I think maybe has phosphoric acid in it?

The on and off is powerful stuff, get some on you and you’ll agree.
Not sure what it is, but it really does work to get the “tea”stains off.
I have used the gel too, it comes as a liquid as well.
Probably would work on oysters, but I think it’s strong stuff whatever it is.

Try On & Off. I use it on my 11 year old Apex Rib two times a year and no adverse effects. I usually use about a 25% solution but actually don't measure it, just guesstimate. Wear vinyl gloves, apply with a paint brush, and maybe scrub it with a grey scratchpad. Hope this helps.

I used pickling paste for cleaning SS welds.
Worked well, bubble & fizz a treat till they are gone.
Didn't affect the hypalon.

Chlorine and step back. Toxic fumes. It does the trick. Wear a mask.

So I got curious and found the On and Off MSDS. It's mostly Hydrochloric Acid (another name for Muriatic acid). but also has lesser amounts of phosphoric acid and Oxalic acid. All diluted 1:2 with water.

So it's probably as safe for the dinghy as Muriatic acid (and pretty damn dangerous to humans). But I've used it a lot on ICW stains and have about the same number of body parts (I do wear gloves and glasses, work outdoors, and use a pad on a short pole to keep my distance)

I really like the gel for ease of application.

When diluting your acid, remember to add the acid to the water, not water to acid.
