And I wonder what is the motivation behind making a non-inflatable boat with fake tubes?
although the motivation may be to make it look like a RIB, i like to think that the designer is just trying to capture some of the enormous resistance to capsize that the tubes create ?

cheers,

Makes them very heavy too. The Wahly 310 (~10') weights 232 lbs! My existing Caribe C10X weights 145lbs (and I consider it too heavy).

By contrast, a Ripple 3.2 only weights 92 lbs if built using foam core.

Re: PVC vs Hypalon in the Tropics?

If cared for, by means of being covered with chaps, and a little bit of maintenance, the PVC is still a good value. I don’t give a crap what is on that YouTube video. Obviously sitting out in the open with no protection the Hypalon will last longer than unprotected PVC, but what about the cost? All I know is that I leave mine out year long, covered In winter and chaps in summer. I only got rid of my last PVC because I wanted a larger one. Boatstogo.com. 9’6” Azurro Mare, with a solid set of custom chaps for $1150. 95 lbs so it’s easy to lift in my davits. Later Dude!
