Protecting the Dinghy Keel

Hey all, after a summer of cruising the Inside Passage and many trips fending off oyster beds whilst trying to get a stern line tied up a rock wall the keel of our Avon RIB is showing a beating. I'm looking for a recommendation on material to glue or screw onto the keel to protect the fiberglass.

There has to be something at Home Depot that would work just fine. Anybody else do this project? Any advice?

Thanks!!

Jason

There is a product called Keelguard, a piece of heavy plastic or rubber which glues to the center of the keel fore to aft. it is about 6 or 8 inches wide and very tough, I put it on an Outboard fishing boat about 10 years ago and it is still in good shape after many encounters with oyster reefs.
Note it does not cover the entire bottom only the center ridge.
Check it out at www.keelguard.com
Good luck
