Painting inside bottom of aluminum hulled dinghy

I did a search on this but didn't find anything right away. I inherited an AB aluminum hulled inflatable dink (RIB) and as is pretty typical for these the white paint on the floor has cracked and is flaking off so only the aluminum is showing. Looks like hell and it can get slippery in these. So I want to dress it up and put a non-skid coating on it. The hull outside seems good still.

Any advice on
a) getting off the paint that has not yet cracked and flaking (i.e. the transom and up to the tubes inside
b) prepping the aluminum for repainting - sanding, primer, etc.
c) type of paint/non-skid

Since knees can take a beating in dinks I am wondering if Kiwigrip non-skid paint would be good. It looks easy to apply and is relatively kind to skin and is good non-skid. Thoughts and ideas?

We've had good results with aluminum. Sand/grind off the old paint. Prime with etching primer, wait the allotted time, then paint with LPU. Pvc matting for non-skid. Any exterior grade.

Thanks Ann. What is PVC matting?

PVC non-skid matting available in various forms. Google it, most likely you shall have seen some of it in use somewhere. The grey kind, with raised 1" diameter circles was used by friends on a Whitby 42 to replace their deck non-skid. Our dinghy has another kind, but I haven't yet been able to source it.

Ann

I did not realize that this kind of mat was PVC. Thanks for passing that on.
