Outboard Loss of Power

About two days ago I went over someones wake. IT wasn't a large wake but I bounced a bit. My outboard engine - Honda 5hp 4 stroke coughed and almost stalled. Initially it would only idle along but it recovered and was able to rev up but with a noticeable loss of power. I took it out yesterday and while it ran ok there is a definate reduction in power. Anyone with any thoughts on wat the problem/solution is?
Thanks.

Check the main jet for blockage, the wake could have dislodged some small bit of grit resulting in a lean fuel/air mixture.

when you run the engine the next time, pull the choke to see if it runs better, this would confirm the blockage to me
