old davits new dinghy

Looking at upgrading our dinghy. We have an old avon 10'. All the new 10' ribs are almost a foot wider. Our davit arms center on the old dink, so they'll be off center on the new dink by 4" to 6".
Will this be a problem? I could get a welder to fab an extension if necessary. Trying to plan for contingencies...

Re: old davits new dinghy

I am in the same boat, bought a new dink that is wider. Guess I am just going to live with it at this point. We just use our davits at anchor but the dinghy does hit the windwane and looks crooked. when hoisted. If you were to sail around with the little boat back there, I would get the davit arms made longer.
