New vented jerry cans

Just discovered vented Scepter jerry cans in a local (Can. ) store. The vent cap is up on the handle. See can at top of pic in this link. FYI

Re: New vented jerry cans

Maybe you could get the "military" shaped ones in the States? Have a friend in Canada receive them for you and you come back with them? At least, those ones are vented.

Seems like there was a thread on this a while back, and some of the guys took the new ones, and used their drill to make a slightly-smaller-than-the-screw sized hole in the handle. Voila, vent. Satisfactorily secured with the screw. Not, of course, to do it if it is illegal at your locale.

Joy! The new "improved" spigot is gone. That thing was a disaster!

Re: New vented jerry cans

I bought old fashioned spigots on Amazon and ditched the damn vented crap spouting fuel spigots. Happy days ever since.
Jiggle siphons are the real answere. Great at sea.

Snap in tank vents are available on eBay. Drill a hole and snap them in.

Last time I was there, Sailormans in Ft. Lauderdale had the yellow military in stock with vents. Around $25 each.

Government and Greenies ... A bad mix. The CARB ones actually create spills.

There is a push button version at Ace that works great.

Re: New vented jerry cans

I picked up these two in Bundaberg Queensland last week, not sure how long they have been available here but I have another four on my 4WD that I bought towards the end of last year.

FYI the vent cap is child proof as well (push down and turn to loosen) Didn't realise this at first did I, thought I had bought a dud as the cap just kept spinning and wouldn't come off

Re: New vented jerry cans

I had all sorts of problems with the new fuel tank supposedly auto vents on my Merc 4 stroke outboard and in the sun the tanks expanded like footballs. I say tanks because the original cracked and dumped it's contents in the RIB, noe there's eco for you! PROBlen solved by buying one of the 'old' style vented screw caps and leaving it very slightly 'cracked', result, no tank football wannbee, so a little vapour escape but it must be better than 3 gallons of neat gas?

As I understand it most of this eco save the planet crap comes out of California regulations?
