Mercury 15 outboard conversion console to tiller

Hi All,
Bought a new boat which came with a tender with a console. I want to switch to a tender w/o a console but keep the motor which looks fine. It is a Mercury 15hp bought in 2015 by the PO.

I'm told that a tiller handle for this will cost 960 euros!!!!!!

Does this sound right? I would have expected this was a common thing to do but maybe I'm wrong.

Any comments or advice welcome.
Thanks,
Jeff
