Lifting Saturn dinghy

Just bought a 2.6 Saturn inflatable. Wondering where/how to attach the lifting straps for the davits. Are the glued on fittings for the grab rope strong enough? How about the lifting handles. Thanks. (You can't get any advice out of the Saturn company.)

Re: Lifting Saturn dinghy

Glued on attachments are normally NOT up to the job.

I have seen many inflatables lifted in webbing loops run round the whole thing.

If there is a plywood stern, one can add a fitting (or drill some holes) in it. In the front, sometimes the painter attachment points are strong enough to do the job.

Re: Lifting Saturn dinghy

A soft dink would need a webbing harness that goes right around the dink. A RIB should have lifting points in the fiberglass forward and in the transom, the lower the better.

On my AB RIB I put D rings with backing plates forward and in the transom.
