How does anyone get registration numbers to stick to a rubber dinghy? I've tried the regular stick-on letters and numbers but they don't adhere to the rubber and soon fall off.

I'm thinking of a stencil and some kind of paint. I'm sure there are plenty of people here who have overcome this problem.

WM sells a kit of stencils and paint. Lots of people just use a black sharpie, a much cheaper solution.

I used the rubber paint/stencils from West Marine, it's thick and has withstood the Florida/Bahamas sun for 9 months so far. Plenty of paint in the little jar for recoating for years, if it doesn't dry up.

Rick, We could never get the paint to last so we used the vinyl letters and glued them on with the same adhesive you would use to patch the dinghy. They last longer than anything else for us. Chuck

My paint has lasted six years so far in the Bahamas in winter and out in the Florida sun in the summer. The trick is to sand the hypolon lightly before painting.

I've always had good luck with vinyl stick-on letters/numbers mounted on a strip of mylar or plexiglass and attached with heavy zip ties. They last for years(10 now)

If you don't mind spending a few bucks, here's a slick solution. I've got this on my hypalon RIB, and it works as advertised.
