Kayak - inflatable vs. rigid

Hi we bought 2 Sea Eagle tandem inflatable kayaks. Performance was fine for our typical use paddling around anchorages. They were a bit of a pain to inflate/deflate/stow/launch/recover/keep from overinflating in the sun but after 2 years and within a week of each other began to leak at the very same place where a seam was lapped by the logo patch. Very difficult to repair. In any case within a few months all the seams began to fail and a PVC shop said they were unrepairable.

Then we tried a single seat molded kayak and found it much easier to use in all respects and a better performer too. Fortunately the bow lockers in our cat can swallow them whole. Much more rugged and durable than the inflatables around the rocks and barnacles although we never punctured our inflatables on them either.

Anyway that was our experience.
