Inflatable / Sailing Dinghy

aloha, planning a trip with our schooner to pacific norhwest and wandering if we had to abandon ship halfway across,heaven forbid .whether a inflateable would be better as some kind of downwind sail vessel rather than sitting adrift in a raft hoping for a rescue? who knows the circumstances of a sinking would be,and whetheror not you could even launch a liferaft or inflateable but it would be nice to think at say 3 knots downwind you might come up on the coast in a week or so.. anybody ....derrick
