I've got a Brownie Pressurized Snorkel that I bought on Ebay. It's discontinued now. I like it because the compressor is quite small & can be plugged into a cigarette lighter for power. For boat work I recommend a small 12 volt unit that will run on your boat's house bank.

Think you are confusing two different thing. Scuba delivers pressurised air from tanks via a regulator. Most use a compressor to refill the tanks. Hoka delivers air from a compressor directly to the diver via hose and depth is very limited.

Having spent a number of years in my youth as a commercial diver I can assure you that a hookah is not any more depth limited than a tank, except for the umbilical effect of the hose, and also that it was common practice to use a tank topside fitted with a first stage connected to an appropriate hose to perform inspections in situations where a short duration dive was required.

I was a australian navy clearance diver in the 60s but I haven’t used a tank for maybe 30 years. What’s a pressurised snorkel. By the way, when I was a kid about 8 I loved diving after watching Sea Hunt. I had one of those snorkels with the plastic ball, I cut it in half and joined the halves to a 10 ft garden hose and jumped into the creek. Doesn’t work, I almost drowned. Just thought I’d mention it in case someone gets the same idea.

Do a search.
Heaps of info on DIY builds online.
Store bought builds generally cost a couple of thousand.

Buy the same or similar oil less/oil free compressor for a couple of hundred
Stage 2 reg for $30
Water trap/filter for $20
Several hose clamps to $5
And 20m of breathing rated airhose for $50

Hardest part of assembly is doing up a hoseclamp.

I’ve seen what the bottom cleaners have looked like after cleaning my boat bottom. I think I would perfer to pay them to do it than to buy a Hookah to do it myself.

Then you will be paying a fortune in the Bahamas or anywhere else not in the US. Costs of $200 a cleaning are not uncommon. And don't think that you won't need it in these places as mangroves make a tenacious red something that sticks like glue to the bottom!

Hell I’ve paid $200 in the US. Seems a small price to not be a walking horror movie. And my experience is there is going to be some other cruiser who has a Hookah that is willing to do it for $100,

I'm intrigued by this statement. I do my own bottom periodically with a snorkel and mask and I've never had anything left on me when finished. What are you guys growing over there?

SNUBA- Topside air tanks delivering air to diver via hose

SCUBA- Air tanks worn by diver

Uh, yeah. I did 1/2 my hull 2 days ago and was covered by little wormy critters crawling all over. Not pleasant..

On the up side - a bucket of those tiny shrimp would simmer up into a good seafood stock
