Fitting Thwart to an Inflatable

I have a Bombard AX2 which doesn't have a thwart. I don't like the idea of a blow-up seat, so I'm thinking of trying a DIY thwart. Anyone done this on their inflatable, got any advice for me?

Just a thought to share. I was looking at doing the same for my dinghy, and was thinking of a simple horizontal wooden seat with two vertical support legs. Simple. The verticals could be hinged for storage. They could have velcro on which would mate to velcro stuck to the inside of the pontoons (there already for an inflatable seat that's long gone)

Hmmmm

Mine has a slat floor which may not provide much support for verticals.

I was thinking of somehow supporting a piece of ply on the main tubes - maybe a semi-rigid pad on each tube to spread the weight and prevent abrasion. Might have to sit in the dunny (Oz for litttle meditation room ) and read sailing mag's for a while & ponder how to do this.

I like your velcro idea to stop slipping side-to-side or for'd/aft.

my dinghy as an aluminium floor, and my solution is viable for this or for a rib -

No thwart at all, instead an igloo cold box with cushion is fitted as two person seat. Provides a good place to stow food as well as a good seat.

A large fender works as well, and gives you a place to store it.

You can buy the seat webbing, like this for example :

Hmmm I wonder - round shape => rolling => me going arse-over-tit.

I'd like to come up with a solution that I can stow with the folded-up dinghy. Those Defender patches look interesting, but how do you make sure the seat doesn't abrade its way through the fabric?

The fender my friend uses with his marshmallow is wedged tightly between the two sides. It doesn't roll/move without serious effort. I cannot move it at all.
