I am in search of a
motor for a
tender. It has been a long while since I looked at
motor prices and thought (obviously wrongly) that prices would have fallen over time. Technology hasn't really moved on as far as I can tell, but the prices seem to just be targeted at whatever they think people can afford.
Looking at the new
Electric Motors, the prices seem to be matching the conventional motor prices. Even when
electric motors are simple and easy to manufacture. I am not a specialist in these things, which is why I am very confused as to why I need to spend 1200 euros on a 1.5hp electric sea
water lithium-powered motor. Even the cheaper models which required an external
battery (not included) that make the 800+200 at the magic 1000 euros entry-level.
In
Spain the streets are full of imported electric scooters and prices which started over 600 euros are now down to 400, so I was expecting the same kind of trend on Tender/Dinghy motors in the electric market.
Am I missing something? Is there a particular
import company that is breaking into the market? Surely there must be something.
Do we really need to only have to choose between ePropulsion and Torquedo?
