Davits & Paddleboards

I've been looking at some threads on here and one of them under multihulls is following the making of a St Francis Mk II. Part of this new design incorporates a long cabinet to allow the user to keep two paddleboards inside.

This has many advantages, amongst which are keeping the paddleboards off the stantions and aiding sailing. I like the new design and am following its manufacture closely as I'm trying to decide on a catamaran myself. However, I didn't know if redesigning a catamaran like this was not a hammer to crack a nut.

Now I'm new to this scene as I've only been sailing a year, but can anyone tell me if it is feasible to just alter the design of davits to include a shelf to hold a couple of paddleboards on their edge across the back of the catamaran in between the dinghy and the rear of the cat?

I've drawn a little pic so that people can hopefully see what I mean and maybe paddleboards are just too big for this... but its late at night here in the UK and I'm just curious.

Comments please

Re: Davits & Paddleboards

Cool design It could work. Depends on the cat. It might work on our lagoon davits but we just leave it on top of the davits. Easy to launch and pack away and keeps some rain our of the dink our sup is inflatable so It's put away on passage.

Re: Davits & Paddleboards

Thanks for the interesting idea. I've been looking online at brackets for our two Naish 11.5 ft. SUPS. The Magnas look good, the Garhaurs only slightly less so, but hundreds of bucks and I really don't like the idea of things on the side of the boat or heavy things on the stanchions. This might work.
