Converting Honda 2hp to 2.3

Can one convert a Honda 2 hp to a 2.3 hp? Is it worth it?

Doubt it.

While there are some outboards that have different hp for same size motor, I would expect them to maybe have a longer stroke which means changes to the cams and piston skirts and tweaks to the carb.

If it was something as simple as a choke plate in the carb then there would be internet sites discussing it. Try doing a search for that.

Looking at the manuals for both engines the 2 horse has more displacement and the HP rating is at 3to 4 grand rpm and the 2.3 is at 5 to 6 grand rpm personally I would not change anything the two gets better fuel economy

I rather figured that. S'aright the two works fine. I was just in a bigger, faster, more powerful mood.

Thanks for the replies.

2.3hp still isn't going to win races. I'm sure it could be done but rather silly with such low hp engines.

3 blade propeller. I agree it's not worth doing unless it was something real simple like changing the jets.

The only difference between a Tohatsu 2.5 and 3 hp is the carborator I've been told. Maybe it's the same for the Honda
