Autohelm 6000 & Raymarine C80 hook-up

I'm helping someone hook up their new Raymarine C80 chartplotter to an old Autohelm 6000 autopilot which I assume can use Seatalk. At the moment they both work ok independantly. The Autohelm manual mentions 5 connector blocks labelled A1..A5, each with four colour coded connectors. But connection info is pitiful, i.e. just connect by colour like for like. The C80 has a standard three wire Seatalk bus cable. The autopilot in question has four of the 5 connector sets free. Any idea how this can be connected so that NAV & Wind Vane modes can be used with Seatalk data from C80?

Regards - Richard, s/y Hula

Richard,

The older Raytheon AH6000 did not support SeaTalk. However, if you have the ST6000 control head, the seatalk cable can be connected into that. If you do not have the manuals, let me know via pm with your email addy - I'll send them to you.

Thanks for info Thomas. I have a feeling that he has the earlier AH6000 control head, so no go. I guess an NMEA hook-up is out as well?

Richard, that's an affirmative. Sorry I ran into this a few years ago.

FYI, I'm moving this thread to the electronics section.
