AB Double Hull Dinghy Leak

My AB DOUBLE HULL DINGHY LEAKS WATER INSIDE THE HULL WHICH HAS TO BE DRAINED CONSTANTLY. I HAVE SEALED BOTH THE DINGHY DRAIN AND THE DRAIN FOR INSIDE THE HULL BUT IT HASN'T STOPPED THE LEAK. CAN ANYONE HELP ME OUT?

Re: AB double hull dinghy leak

This is a tough one

The ab two layers are sealed around the edges where the tubes are glued (inner and outher). And its not normal to see leakes from here.

On our the leak came from the plug in the transom. Not the plug but the fitting. We changed the whole unit and bedded with 5200 and that fixed our leak.
We had a gallon a week leak.

Re: AB double hull dinghy leak

I tried sealing all around the edges of the two existing drains but it only slowed, not stopped, the leak. It drives me particularly crazy because with our 8hp outboard, the dinghy will not plane with two of us IF it has water in the hull. But it planes perfectly when the water is drained. I will make the repair you suggest. THANKS.

Re: AB Double Hull Dinghy Leak

Is yours fiberglass or aluminum? Just curious.

Can you connect your dinghy pump to the drain hole and pressurize the cavity?Might be able to find where the leak is then. Or even have the dink on shore, put a couple of gallons in the cavity, then stand it up on either side, on the stern, and so on until you find where the leak is.

Re: AB Double Hull Dinghy Leak

Do you have a bow locker? If so, maybe the seals are leaking on it.
