1997 9.9 mercury carb or carb kit
I am having a very hard time finding a carb or a rebuild kit for this motor.. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This particularotor has the accelerator pump and I can't find one to replace it.

Tohatsu makes a lot of Merc’s smaller outboards. Double check and see if your year model are and then search for tohatsu parts, might have better luck.

That's the one I keep finding, not quite the same. The mounting flange is oriented about 90 degrees from mine

Re: 1997 9.9 mercury carb or carb kit
Just to confirm, it's a 4-stroke? When Merc first started making small 4-strokes in 1994 they used Yamaha heads, so might also search there.
Any chance it's this one that says 1999-2004? At least the flange orientation looks different.

Re: 1997 9.9 mercury carb or carb kit
I think that's the same carb as the other one you showed me. Most of the Amazon carbs are upside down in the pics. My flange is oriented around 1oclock and 7 o'clock at the bolt holes. Thanks for your help, I've been looking everywhere..

And yes it's a 4 stroke, I did find a diaphragm that looks similar on a Yamaha

This is the one I'm looking for. I found one on eBay for $225 used.. It's actually listed as a Yamaha 9.9

It that then this one? Hard to tell from the picture if the mounting flange is the same shape. If so, whole they appear to be as rare as hen's teeth, but there are some parts out there.

Check with LM Marine online. They either have or can get most all parts. They are in Alabama.

Try boat.net, many parts. Sometimes it easier and better to just replace the carb.

Re: 1997 9.9 mercury carb or carb kit
don't replace it just clean yours, I clean a lot of carbs for people and show them how to do it, its very simple just follow where the fuel goes. The main jet is rarely clogged it is the idle and midrange circuit, use small wires, Brake parts cleaner with a straw. I haven't seen one yet that I couldn't get running perfect with a good cleaning, don't even need a carb kit, which is usually just a manifold gasket and a float bowl o ring, careful when you take it apart. the accelerator pump really isn't needed just keeps engine from stumbling if you wick it wide open from low rpms, but it also cleans out easily. in future don't use fuel with ethanol in it and run carb dry before you put engine up.

I didn't really want to replace the whole carb but I couldn't find the diaphragm for the accelerator pump, that's what is leaking. And I broke the pin off the top of the needle valve because it was bent and I tried to straighten it... So now I need the needle and a diaphragm.
