Not in and of itself. Interesting things can happen when
lightning hits a wooden mast. Woodenboat had an article on it that described several episodes. In one, the
current traveled down the mast's grounding wire(s) and exited the
boat with no damage. In another, the
current, coming across moisture in the mast, superheated the moisture into steam in a fraction of a second, and the mast was blown to bits by the expanding steam. So... there are different effects, depending upon the mast.
