cburger, To return to your original question, we have used the Sea Tiger 555, if that is what you have, on our Mariner 40 for 15 years now and the boat is 26 years old. The windlass we believe is original equipment from the first owner. We are the second. It has performed very well for us in all kinds of conditions without ever giving us a problem. It is almost totally maintenance free except for the occasional shot of grease. But a lot depends on the condition it was in when you received it. Sorry to interrupt the discussion on Naval terms
