Hi folks, in my soverel I have these pulleys in my boom that were made for the outhaul. First of all the cables that run between the pulleys are all corroded to the point that I'm scared to sail with them, second how in the heck do I get into my boom to replace them? Or maybe it will be better just to bypass them and send my outhaul straight to the clew?...someone give me some advice please lol
It's called hard work. All the fittings will be corroded too. One uses box-end wrenches on long sticks. Bolts and rivets get drilled out. You can sometimes drill access holes in the side of the boom. Take the boom off and move it to a well-lighted workshop, or better a professional rig shop. A smooth running outhaul is a wonderful thing to have.
