What do you with old sails?

I have a Dacron mainsail from a Cal 39II that I pulled out of a dumpster about 30 years ago. It is great for raking leaves, though it is starting to wear thin in spots from being dragged behind the tractor. Getting an old sail to Haiti or Africa would put it to better use.

That is what I did: local loft cut it to fit friends’ terrace downtown in Lisbon (pic attached - it was 15y old so wrinkles caught some urban dirt meanwhile).

I think the charity idea is great and I will use and broadcast it at the marina, I know of at least 2 boats that got new clothes this year. [emoji106]

You say it is still useable; why not advertise it in your local on-line ads for $50, $20 or $0? There are plenty of sailors who would buy a used sail and put it to good use for another 5 or 10 years, especially if it is local and cheap!
