Vang - Clutch, Jammer or Cam-Cleat

Furling Main
Vang is rope - 10mm
Currently held by full strength clutch
I'd like to use that clutch for a spinnaker halyard
So...
How much strength do I need for a clutch/jammer/cam-cleat to safely retain the vang ?

I'm thinking a Spinock Rope Jammer - 6-10mm - SWL 400kg would be more than enough ?
Or is this overkill ?

You must be able to release the vang under load. I believe this makes the clutch a better option than the jammer, but I'm not an expert.

I agree that the line needs to be releasable under load. A clutch is the way to go. Figure the max load on the line, and size the clutch generously. BTW, I use one on my headsail's rollerfurling line, and it has made reefing or furling the sail a one person, one hand, operation. If in extreme situations, I have the option of backing up the clutch with a horn cleat near by. (like in storms)

FWIW:

The Spinlock clutches on my boat (main and genoa halyards and reefing lines) will NOT release under heavy loads. The Lewmar clutches (other halyards and runners) will release under heavy loads. Your choice.

Cam cleat, no questions.
Ideally 2 cam cleats, one either side of the boat, so that you can release the vang from the high side on either tack.

In strong breeze, being able to dump the vang fast is very important.
