Traveler upgrade

My 84 Lancer 36 has a IYE traveler system and I would love to upgrade the end cars as well as the centering car to give me more purchase power. Right now each car has a single pulley with a becket on the end car pulley. I would like to enhance the purchase by having two pulleys on the end cars and place a becket on the center car. Part of my upgrade problem begins with having a 1 1/4" IYE track and getting parts from other manufacturers to work on it. Any thoughts on my dilemma?

Re: traveler upgrade

Rig-Rite is probably a good alternative, but Garhauer is going to give me 4 to 1 purchase with ball bearing pulleys for near half the price. Very friendly and accommodating. It's nice to work with a manufacturer rather than a parts reboxer.

Ditto! I put a new Garhauer traveler on Voyageur two years ago and we've been very pleased with it.

Re: traveler upgrade

I also upgraded from an IYE traveler. I was unable to find any other manufacturer's parts that would fit the IYE "X" track. While Rig-Rite can supply some IYE parts, I found that replacing the track and cars with Garhauer was the best option. By the way, Garhauer drilled their track to match the IYE bolt pattern, so I didn't even have to drill any new holes in my deck.

Re: Traveler upgrade

Fortunately, for me, Garhauer was willing to work with upgrading my IYE centering car and only replace and upgrade the stationary end cars. My IYE "X" track which is still good has some of it's mounting bolts imbedded and would cause work I didn't want to engage. Thank you Garhauer!

Re: Traveler upgrade

I replaced the traveler, the mainsheet blocks, the jib cars/blocks, added a vang. All Garhauer. Made a huge improvement to how the boat works. Great stuff, great service, local to me. They'll do custom stuff. Much less $$$ than anywhere else.

Highly recommended.
