Has anyone used this paint for mast/boom?
I used it for prop and shaft..... excellent result.
Your thoughts.

Will look horrible and probably peel off, but hey if you feel the need to waste the paint.

Re: This paint for mast/boom?

It’s the wrong primer for use on aluminum.

If you want to prime the aluminum mast and boom you’ll need zinc chromate, followed by another paint.

Both zinc chromate and the “paint” you have pictured are primers.

Re: This paint for mast/boom?

Assuming your mast/boom are alumin(i)um there was another thread on this very subject a few years back.

https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...ay-173167.html

While zinc chromate is/was standard prep on aluminum, straight zinc is not recommended, especially in moist environments. The Rustoleum product is 93% zinc, so I would say no.

If the mast isn't aluminum then if you can tell us what it is might be able to provide a better answer.

You can use Awlgrip CF washprimer as a newish easy product. Top coat polyurethane would be my choice.
