So, I'm pretty handy at eye-splicing in standard dacron double braid. I can also pull of a reasonable Mobius Brummel eye-splice in exotic 12-strand
single braid.
But quite a few of my ropes are double braid, combining an exotic
core with a Dacron cover (Vectran,
Spectra, Kevlar, etc). It is my understanding that the load is mostly carried by the
core and that the cover just provides good handling, chafe resistance and UV resistance.
A standard double braid eye splice is no good. I am not sure how a Mobius Brummel splice would
work with double braid.
So, the question is, what is the correct splice?
